A young boy named Yan follows his father to his place of work, The Intergalactic Lost & Foundm a very old, planet-sized storage facility for lost and found items from all over the universe. It is run down, understaffed, the storage depots are filled to the brink with uncollected items, including vehicles, robots, plants, animals, and unidentifiable, alien objects. Over time the Lost and Found has also become inhabited by all sorts of creatures. Not all friendly, some even extremely dangerous. During his visit Yan is supposed to stay with his father in the front office.

When his father is called away, Yan is sent into the storage depots by his father's supervisor to retrieve a lost briefcase for immediate collection. When the boy enters the depots he is quickly lost himself. Now he not

only has to locate the briefcase but also find his way out of this mysterious and dangerous place. Yan meets an uncollected robot named Bob who offers to help him find the briefcase and the way out.

Yan's father returns to the front office to discover his young son has gone into the storage depots. He goes in after him, taking a shortcut through the most dangerous part of the Lost and Found. He runs into very serious trouble himself..

The briefcase Yan is sent to retrieve is being collected by a nasty and not too bright character called Hench. The case contains the means to close the Lost and Found forever, and needs to be delivered to his boss in a hurry. Hench decides there isn't time to lose and sneaks into the Lost and Found to retrieve the case himself, hopefully before his boss finds out he lost the briefcase.

Yan and Bob finally find the briefcase and make their way back to the front office. They discover the case is needed to close the Lost and Found. Bob, and all the other characters they've met along the way who live in the Lost and Found, will lose their home. Yan's father will lose his job. Yan must decide whether to return the briefcase to its rightful owner, or make it disappear.  In the end the briefcase is destroyed and the plan to close the Lost and Found is averted.
